With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alhaja Monsurat Ola’Alli-Balogun, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on May 13, 2026. Born on November 27, 1975, in Lagos, Nigeria, Monsurat graced us with her presence and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Monsurat was a beacon of strength and compassion, a true pillar in the community whose warmth and kindness touched countless lives. Her journey began in Lagos, where she cultivated a spirit of resilience and empathy that would define her life. Moving to the United States, she dedicated 25 years of her life to Southern University, from 1997 until her retirement in 2022. Her professional career was marked by unwavering commitment and excellence, earning her respect and admiration from colleagues and students alike.
Beyond her professional achievements, Monsurat held a deep love for gardening, finding solace and joy in nurturing life from the soil. Her garden was a reflection of her soul—vibrant, nurturing, and full of life. She possessed an adventurous spirit, evident in her passion for travel, which allowed her to connect with people from all walks of life and share her radiant smile and generous spirit globally.
Family was the cornerstone of Monsurat's life. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother, whose heart brimmed with love and pride for her family. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of lovingly prepared meals. Her grandchildren were her greatest delight, and she cherished every moment spent in their joyful company.
Monsurat was not only a guiding compass for her family but also for her community. She was actively involved in several community organizations, where her welcoming heart and supportive nature inspired and uplifted those around her. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she selflessly extended her hand to anyone in need, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion.
She leaves behind her loving husband, her children, her adored grandchildren, and a wide circle of close friends and family who will forever cherish her memory. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, the warmth of her spirit and the echo of her laughter will remain in our hearts forever.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Alhaja Monsurat Ola’Alli-Balogun will be held on May 21, 2026, at 5:30 PM at 12124 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Family, friends, and all who were touched by her remarkable life are invited to join us in remembering a woman who truly made the world a better place.
