Alfred Martinez, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 16, 2026, at the age of 70. Born in Sylmar, California, on April 6, 1956, Alfred's journey through life was filled with love, laughter, and an enduring commitment to his family and country. Alfred was the cherished son of Alfredo and Josephina Martinez, who predeceased him, along with his sister Teresa and her husband Louis Medrano, and his brother Edward and his wife Carolyn Martinez. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosie Martinez, with whom he shared over five decades of marriage, having wed on July 4, 1974, in Hollywood, California. Their union was blessed with love, shared adventures, and a beautiful family. Alfred leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Nicole Dela Cruz, who brought immense joy to his life. Following his graduation from Pacoima High School, Alfred answered the call to serve his country, joining the U.S. Army. He served with honor during the end of the Vietnam War and later the Gulf War, demonstrating bravery and dedication that would remain a hallmark of his life. After his military service, Alfred pursued a career as a Mechanical Engineer with Lockheed Martin, where his intelligence and work ethic shone brightly. His contributions to the field were marked by innovation and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Alfred's life was enriched by his passion for the great outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in camping trips with family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Sunday dinners were a cherished tradition, a time when family gathered together, filling the house with laughter and love—an embodiment of Alfred's spirit. Known for his sense of humor and ability to make anyone laugh, Alfred was a joy to be around. His hearty laugh and warm presence made him a beloved figure in the lives of those who knew him. He was the heart of his family, and his legacy of kindness and joy will continue to live on in their hearts. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Presbyterian Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Alfred's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to Alfred's heart. A private funeral service will be held on July 22, 2026, at 8:00 AM, where family and close friends will gather to celebrate Alfred's life and bid farewell to a remarkable man who touched so many lives. His family takes comfort in knowing that Alfred's spirit will continue to guide them, his love forever a beacon of light in their lives.
