With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Alfonzo Buford Jr., who left this world peacefully on February 19, 2026, at the Yazoo Center rehabilitation facility. Born on December 17, 1963, in the close-knit community of Tunica, Mississippi, Alfonzo was a beacon of kindness and resilience whose influence touched countless lives. Alfonzo was the cherished son of Mazzie Buford-Hudson and Alfonzo Jackson. Though he faced the profound loss of his mother, Mazzie, he carried her spirit and warmth with him throughout his life. Alfonzo's profound love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he maintained a deep connection to his roots in Tunica, often reminiscing about the idyllic days of his youth spent surrounded by cotton fields and the Mississippi River's gentle currents. Alfonzo will be remembered for his gentle nature, unfailing generosity, and the quiet strength that characterized his life. His laughter was infectious, and his presence brought joy to those he encountered. Alfonzo had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and heard, and he leaves behind a legacy of compassion and understanding that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
