It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander Sims, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on September 27, 2026, due to complications from surgery and subsequent organ failure. Alexander was surrounded by love and the warm embrace of his family as he made his peaceful transition. Born on November 6, 1956, in Childress, Texas, Alexander was the cherished son of the late Alexander and Edna Jean Sime. Raised in a home filled with love and laughter, Alexander was instilled with strong values and a sense of integrity that guided him throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Michael Tanzie, Floyd Knight, Laudes Dupree, Robert Cannon, Edwin Smith, and Debra Baldwin, who he now joins in eternal rest. Alexander was a proud graduate of Childress High School, where he completed his studies in 1974. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, dedicating two honorable years of service to the U.S. Military from 1975 to 1977. His military service was a testament to his unwavering commitment to duty and honor. A man of many talents, Alexander had a profound passion for music, particularly the drums and guitar. Music was the language through which he expressed his soul, bringing joy and harmony to those around him. His legacy as a musician will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of hearing him play. Above all, Alexander was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his loving siblings, Oreva Vadjl, Leslie Sims, and Billy Cannon, who will forever cherish the bond they shared. He was a proud father to Kenny Smart and Christopher Sims, and his love and wisdom will continue to guide them. As a grandfather, he delighted in the laughter and joy of his five grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit and memory. Alexander's circle of friends was vast, and he was a cherished companion to many who will miss his warmth and generosity. His presence was a source of comfort and joy, and his friendships were a testament to his genuine and caring nature. A service to celebrate Alexander's life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 PM at Trinity, located at 209 Ave J Southeast. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Alexander are invited to join in honoring his memory and celebrating the remarkable life he led. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Alexander's honor. This gesture would be a fitting tribute to a man who gave so generously and cared deeply for others. Alexander Sims, Jr.'s life was a symphony of love, dedication, and kindness. His memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire us all.
