It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Douglas Short, who left this world on March 25, 2026, at the age of 33. Born on January 16, 1993, in the beautiful landscapes of Canada, Alexander's light shone brightly, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Alexander was the beloved son of Clarence and Debbie Short, who nurtured his vibrant spirit and supported him through life's journey. From a young age, Alexander exhibited a remarkable wit and intelligence, qualities that would define his character and guide him through his life’s pursuits. His fast wit and sharp mind were often matched by his kindness and cunning, making him an extraordinary individual loved by many. A dedicated student, Alexander pursued his education at NSCC, where he excelled academically and graduated at the top of his class as a plumber. His passion for his trade was evident in the meticulous care and skill he brought to his work. Alexander’s career was not just a job to him—it was a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and innate talent. Alexander was a man of profound resilience, facing life's challenges with courage and grace. Yet, his journey was not without its trials. Despite battling illness, addiction, and heartbreak, he remained a beacon of strength and hope. These struggles only deepened his empathy and understanding for others, as he continuously sought to uplift those around him, offering a kind word or a helping hand whenever needed. Though Alexander did not have children of his own, his deep love for his partner, Cindy Eckalook, was a testament to his capacity for love and companionship. Together, they shared dreams, laughter, and the everyday moments that make life truly meaningful. In accordance with Alexander's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life. Though he leaves no surviving family members, the legacy of his spirit endures in the hearts of friends and loved ones who mourn his passing. Alexander's life was a tapestry woven with both joy and sorrow, triumph and trial. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, intelligence, and unwavering resilience. We find solace in the memories of his laughter, his quick wit, and the warmth of his heart. As we say goodbye to Alexander, we carry forward the lessons he taught us: to cherish each moment, to approach life with compassion, and to always extend a hand to those in need. In honoring his memory, we celebrate a life well-lived and a soul forever cherished. Rest in peace, dear Alexander. Your journey has touched us all, and your spirit will remain with us always.
