In Loving Memory

Alexander Candido Dabalos
December 23, 1948 — July 29, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Alexander Candido Dabalos. Born on December 23, 1948, in the beautiful city of Honolulu, Hawaii, Alex left this world peacefully on July 29, 2026, after bravely facing multiple heart attacks and strokes with the strength and resilience he was known for.
Alex was the cherished son of Teofilo Modesto Dabalos, a dedicated longshoreman with Castle & Cooke, and Annie Keoahu (Agrabante) Dabalos, a skilled Ginacca Operator at The Dole Pineapple Co. Growing up as the sixth among eight siblings, Alex was part of a close-knit family that valued hard work, love, and laughter. Although predeceased by his parents, siblings Clement, Teofilo (Bully), Norman (Poncho), Leonard (Lenny Boy), Sista Pauline, and his beloved son Jason Neal, Alex's legacy continues through his surviving family members: brother Benjamin Kauwaihikapu Dabalos (Leann) of Las Vegas, NV, and sister Barbara Ann (Dabalos) Capello of San Jose, CA. He leaves behind five grandchildren—Justine Kalauli (Randy), Kody Kaimana Dabalos Kaleiwahea, Jacelyn Kiana Kaleiwahea, Kayla Leina’ala Kaleiwahea, and Jason Dabalos (Baby Jason)—along with two great-grandchildren, Khaydence and Kyren-Michael Kaleiwahea.
Alex's life was marked by his unyielding dedication to family, country, and community. After graduating from Wallace Rider Farmington High School, he pursued his passion for automobiles and became a 1st Class Auto Body and Fender Technician. His career spanned various roles, from a recognized manager at Assurance Fender Works to a respected position at the Navy Public Works Center in Pearl Harbor.
His commitment to service extended to a distinguished military career. As a dedicated member of the Army Reserves, Alex served his country with honor for 36 years, including deployments during Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 2004, leaving an indelible mark on all who served with him.
In his personal life, Alex was known for his warmth, humor, and generosity. He was a talented singer, often mesmerizing audiences with his voice reminiscent of Don Ho, and a devotee of traditional Hawaiian music and cooking. His love for the color blue, muscle cars, and his passion for golf, fishing, and pool brought joy to those around him.
Alex is fondly remembered by his partner Marcia Paquel, with whom he shared a loving relationship after both retired from the Army Reserves. Together, they created a life filled with shared interests and mutual support.
A service to honor Alex's life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 2:45 PM at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, Shelter #5. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Val and Vicky, his compassionate caregivers, Ann, Michael, Judee, and Dr. Anita Gould, whose care and prayers provided comfort and peace in his final days.
As Sista Barbara lovingly bids, “May the everlasting light shine on you Alika forever, and keep you happy my dear Braddah.”
