Alene Hughes, a cherished soul who graced this world with her warmth and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with kidney failure. Born on December 25, 1938, in Roosevelt, Utah, Alene was a Christmas gift to her parents, Leland and Ila Rhae Peterson, who instilled in her the values of love, resilience, and community. Alene was a devoted wife to her beloved Edward Hughes until his untimely passing, and together they cultivated a life rich in faith and family. Her nurturing spirit and steadfast devotion to her family were evident in every aspect of her life. Alene's heart was a sanctuary for her surviving family members, including her cherished son, Troy Mower, and his loving wife, Carmen Mower. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Travis Mower, Stephanie, and Michael Davis, who each carry a piece of her heart with them. Her great-grandchildren, Kyle and Joshua Davis, will grow up surrounded by the loving stories and memories of their remarkable great-grandmother. Alene's life was deeply rooted in the community of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she was a faithful member. Her faith was her guiding light, and she often found herself at the heart of church activities, offering her time and compassion to those in need. Her spiritual journey was one of quiet strength and devotion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is also survived by her brother, Dee Peterson, and sisters, Morgan Ray and Kelli Bowen, who recall with fondness the laughter and love they shared throughout their lives. Alene was a pillar of strength in her family, offering wisdom and support with a grace that was uniquely hers. A service to celebrate Alene's extraordinary life will be held on June 1, 2026, at Neola Cemetery. It is here that friends and family will gather to honor a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved. As we say goodbye to Alene, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, a testament to the beautiful life she led. In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the memories of her gentle smile, her unwavering love, and the legacy she leaves behind.
