Alec Stephen Bowman, a beloved son, brother, and soldier, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 35. Born on December 2, 1990, in Contra Costa, California, Alec was a beacon of strength and resilience, whose life, though marked by battles, was filled with service, love, and a touch of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. Alec grew up in Contra Costa, where he developed a sharp wit and a knack for sarcasm that endeared him to friends and family alike. His humor was a testament to his resilience and served as a source of comfort and connection for those fortunate enough to know him. At the age of 20, Alec embarked on a distinguished career in the United States Army. Throughout his service, he demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to his country, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Alec served with honor in numerous commands, including Fort Hood, Texas; Camp Humphreys, Korea; Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Fort Huachuca, Arizona; and Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. His exemplary service earned him numerous accolades, including a Meritorious Service Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, and seven Army Good Conduct Medals. He was also proudly awarded the prestigious Drill Sergeant Badge, a testament to his leadership and exceptional skill. Beyond his military achievements, Alec was a cherished member of the Order of Saint Michael, an organization that celebrates the contributions and sacrifices of those in the Army. His commitment to his fellow soldiers was matched only by his love for his family. Alec was preceded in death by his cherished brother, Samuel; his devoted mother, Julia; and his loving grandparents, Linda and Kolman. Their memories lived on in Alec’s heart, guiding him through life's challenges. He is survived by the loving spirit of his family, who mourn his passing and celebrate his life. Alec’s journey was not without its struggles, and he ultimately lost his battle to his demons. Yet, he leaves behind a legacy of bravery, service, and a warmth that touched every life he encountered. Though he never married, Alec leaves behind a family bound not by blood, but by shared experiences and deep bonds forged through both laughter and sacrifice.
