It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alec Stephen Bowman, who left us far too soon on May 24, 2026, at the age of 35. Alec was born on December 2, 1990, in San Rafael, California, and he leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love that will be cherished by all who knew him. Alec was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. His passion for science and learning was matched only by his commitment to serving his country. Alec enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2010, dedicating his life to the defense of the nation he loved so dearly. Throughout his distinguished military career, Alec served with honor at Fort Hood, TX; Camp Humphreys, Korea; Fort Wainwright, AK; Fort Huachuca, AZ; and Hunter Army Airfield, GA. Alec was not only a soldier but also a leader. He achieved the prestigious title of Drill Sergeant, a testament to his unwavering dedication and exceptional ability to inspire those around him. His service was recognized with numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, five Army Good Conduct Medals, and the esteemed Drill Sergeant Badge. Alec was also a proud member of the Order of Saint Michael, an organization that resonated with his values and commitment to his comrades. Alec was a man of contrasts, known for his sharp wit and sarcasm, yet deeply compassionate and forgiving to those who were fortunate enough to know him beyond the uniform. He was playful and kind-hearted, qualities that endeared him to his family and friends. Alec had a love for growing tomatoes, a simple pleasure that brought him joy amidst the rigors of military life. Alec never married, though he aspired to have a family of his own one day. He is survived by his devoted mother, Julia Bowman, his brother Samuel McGray, and his beloved grandparents, Linda and Kolman Wong. He was cherished by his family, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. In honor of his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Alec's life. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all those who served alongside Alec and especially to those who stood by him through his struggles. Though Alec's battle with his inner demons ended tragically, his courage, strength, and kindness will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of bravery, love, and an indomitable spirit. May Alec find the peace he so deeply deserved, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
