It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alden Triplett, who transitioned from this life surrounded by his loving family on September 14, 2026. Born on January 2, 1942, in the quaint surroundings of Neshoba County, Mississippi, Alden was a beloved son of Gayle and Betty Triplett, who predeceased him.
Alden's journey through life was marked by a dedication to his craft, an unwavering commitment to his community, and a deep love for his family. He spent his early years cultivating a passion for mechanics, a path that led him to work at a Volkswagen Plant where he distinguished himself as a Master Mechanic. Known for his expertise, Alden became the go-to mobile mechanic, trusted by many, including celebrities like the late Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight. His talents extended beyond automobiles, as he mastered the art of repairing small engines, founding a lawn mower repair shop that became a beacon of learning and mentorship for young men in his community.
Alden's generosity knew no bounds, as he often shared his mechanical knowledge with anyone eager to learn. He was especially proud of the impact he had on the lives of his mentees, with some, including his grandson, achieving remarkable success, such as becoming a top Aeronautics Engineer in the Air Force. Alden's influence extended beyond mechanics; he was a pillar in the Davidson Woodrow Wilson area, known for his kindness, humor, and infectious laughter.
His hobbies mirrored his professional interests, with a love for small engines, lawn mowers, and riding bikes and motorcycles. He was a man who delighted in seeing others thrive, often helping local lawn services get started by offering his services at prices well below his competitors.
Alden's legacy is forever etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched. He is survived by his loving children: Allisa Triplett, Serena Triplett, Demetrius Heard, and Alton Triplett. His siblings Charles Triplett, Imallie Davis, and Audrey Holloway also cherish his memory. Alden was the proud grandfather of Sharonda Nelson, Shantanique Summers, Jamar Chandler, Avis Heard, and Kim Heard, with a total of ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will carry forward his spirit and teachings.
In addition to his surviving family, Alden is predeceased by his parents, Gayle and Betty Triplett, and his siblings Bernice Cooper, Bonnie Triplett, and Sonny Triplett. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Vanesha Gray, whose fond memories with her grandfather will be cherished forever.
Alden Triplett will always be remembered as "the lawnmower man," a title he wore with pride as he excelled in his chosen path. His life was a testament to the power of determination, love, and community spirit. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in Alden's memory. May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing he left the world a better place.
