Alberta Lampkin, a beloved matriarch, devoted nurse, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away at her home on June 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born Alberta Jackson on August 28, 1936, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Henry Jackson and Claire Southers. Alberta's life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith, and she touched the hearts of many throughout her 89 years.
Alberta's journey began in the heartland of America, where she grew up alongside her siblings, John Henry Jr., Anna May Blakely, Cornelius Jackson, Louise Meyers, John D. Jackson, Claire May Gardner, Carl D. Jackson Reese, and Sydney Jackson Reese. Though she is now reunited with those who predeceased her, including her beloved parents and siblings, her legacy continues to shine brightly through her surviving family members.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother Sydney and her devoted children: Cartella Montura and husband Donald Taylor, Michelle E. AJ Mims, Brynda Shingles, Cearen Robinson, Joshua and Domonice Lampkin, Husani Lampkin and his family, Munyi and Ashley Lampkin, Tialen Lampkin, William Brown, Carolyn Lampkin, and Jhai with his family. Alberta's grandchildren, eight in total, were a source of immense joy and pride for her.
Alberta's life was enriched by her early years spent with her aunt Carrie Sturgis in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a proud graduate of Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to serving others. Her love story began with Richard C. Talley, leading to a beautiful marriage with Willie V. Lampkin.
For many years, Alberta dedicated herself to caring for others as a nurse at Holly Heights Nursing Facility in Denver, Colorado, where her compassion and kindness left an indelible mark on patients and colleagues alike. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she served faithfully on the Usher Board at Antioch Church of God in Christ under Bishop E. Franklin. In her later years, she found spiritual solace at Heritage Christian Center under Bishop Dennis Leonard.
Alberta was a woman of simple joys and profound passions. She loved going to the gym and cherished her rides on local buses, savoring the vibrant tapestry of life in her community. Her move to live with her daughter and son-in-law was filled with the warmth and love she so generously shared.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Alberta's remarkable life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their unwavering support and kindness during this time of loss, and they invite you to remember Alberta's indomitable spirit in your own lives.
