It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Alan Hendry, who departed from this world on July 1, 2026. Alan was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed. He was born on October 2, 1955, in the close-knit community of Vernon, Texas, to the late Raymond and Betty Hendry, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience. Throughout his remarkable 70 years, Alan built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. He was a man of many talents and interests, who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His career path, which included significant work at the Waggoner Ranch, caregiver, as well as in mechanics and construction, was a testament to his unwavering work ethic and his incredible ability to fix nearly anything. Alan's hands, calloused from years of hard work, were also the hands that tenderly cared for his garden, barbecued for family gatherings, and helped others without hesitation. A passionate outdoorsman, Alan found peace in the quiet moments spent by the water, fishing rod in hand, or tending to his garden under the Texas/Oklahoma sun. His love for the outdoors was contagious, inspiring those around him to appreciate the beauty of nature and the bounty it provides. An avid gardener, his home was always surrounded by the vibrant colors and fragrances of plants he lovingly tended to. Alan's genuine love for cooking was well-known among family and friends. He took great pleasure in preparing meals that brought people together, creating memories that would be cherished long after the dishes were done. His barbecues were legendary, and his kitchen was a place where love was the main ingredient. Alan was a family man through and through, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Janeena together they created a blended family. Alan's legacy lives on in his daughters, Cristie Hendry and Brandy Gilchrist, and his stepchildren, Jennifer and Timothy. He adored his grandchildren, Hayley and Jocelyn, as well as his step-grandchildren, Alee and Jacob, and found immense pride and joy in watching them grow. Alan was also blessed with several great-grandchildren, who brought him endless delight. Alan is predeceased by his beloved parents, Raymond and Betty Hendry, and his sister, Denise Chumley. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Terry and Alanna Hendry, who shared in his life's journey and stood by him through the highs and lows. Known for his compassion and generosity, Alan was a friend to all creatures, great and small. His love for animals was evident in the way he cared for them, a reflection of the gentle spirit and kindness that defined his character. As we say goodbye to Alan, we remember a man who lived life with purpose and passion, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A celebration of Alan's life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to honor a remarkable man whose memory will forever be cherished. Rest in peace, dear Alan. You will be profoundly missed and eternally loved.
