It is with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Alan Michael Wahl, born on October 30, 1955, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Alan departed this world peacefully at home on January 3, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and his beloved pets. Born to Aldon Wahl Sr. and Ruby Wahl, both of whom have predeceased him, Alan was the embodiment of warmth and wisdom. His journey through life was marked by a profound love for learning and a deep-seated passion for sharing that knowledge with others. Alan's early years were spent in New Orleans, where he graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1973. His thirst for knowledge led him to the University of New Orleans, where he pursued studies in history and education, fields that he held close to his heart throughout his life. Alan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, receiving an Honorable Discharge, a testament to his dedication and integrity. A dedicated professional, Alan worked tirelessly as a Meter Reader for Entergy of Louisiana, a role he embraced with diligence until his retirement in 2023. In 2014, Alan married his soulmate, Caren Hamel, and together they shared fifteen beautiful years filled with the joys of companionship and the warmth of home, always accompanied by their beloved pets. Alan was a man of many talents and interests; he was an avid reader, a lover of music, and a tender gardener. His culinary skills were renowned among family and friends, and he took immense joy in creating meals that brought people together. Alan was not only a devoted family man but also a beloved brother to Kathleen Hall, Aldon Wahl Jr., Michael Wahl, and Brian Wahl Sr. His intelligence and wisdom made him a great tutor to his siblings and others who were fortunate enough to have learned from him. Alan’s love for animals was a defining characteristic of his generous spirit, and he extended that love to all creatures, big and small. A celebration of Alan's life will be held on March 19, 2026, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, located at 1001 W. Esplanade Ave., Kenner, LA 70065, with services commencing at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Alan's memory to Rolling River Rescue, an organization dear to his heart, at https://www.rrrrescue.org/donate. Alan will be forever remembered for his kindness, his unwavering strength, and the love he shared with all who knew him. As his family, we hold him close in our hearts, cherishing the memories and the indelible mark he left on our lives. "Alan - You will be forever in our hearts." May his soul rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.
