Alan Lindley, affectionately known as "Big Al" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and joy. Born on June 17, 1938, in Indiana, Alan's life was a testament to dedication and warmth, touching the hearts of all who knew him.
Alan was a proud veteran, having served his country with distinction in the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer CW-4. His military career spanned over 50 years, including service during the Vietnam War. Throughout his illustrious career, Alan was honored with numerous awards, including the Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service Medal, Meritorious Civil Service Medal, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Legion of Merit, and many others. His remarkable contributions to military intelligence were recognized with his induction into the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
Beyond his military achievements, Alan was an active member of the Moose Lodge and a devout attendee of All Saints Church. His vibrant personality and quick wit made him the life of any gathering. Known for his signature phrase "Happy Days," Alan had an uncanny ability to uplift those around him, bringing joy and laughter to every occasion.
Alan cherished the simple pleasures in life, particularly his love for fishing and boat rides with his son. His greatest delight, however, was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Alan's eyes would light up at the sight of Lucky, Anabelle, Maximus, Zavier, Jasper, Sam, and Graham, each grandchild holding a special place in his heart.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy, and children James, Danny, and Pamela, Alan leaves behind his devoted son Scott and daughter-in-law Amy. His legacy extends through his seven cherished grandchildren, who will forever remember the warmth of his embrace and the sparkle in his eye.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Alan's friends at INSCOM and the Moose Lodge. Your love and companionship enriched his life immeasurably, and he cherished each of you deeply.
Alan Lindley will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will forever echo in the laughter of his family, the camaraderie of his friends, and the stories shared by those who loved him.
