Alan Lee Newman

Alan Lee Newman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 1, 1948, in Dalhart, Texas, Alan's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to family and community. Alan was the cherished son of the late Harold Newman and Ruth Nichols. He is predeceased by his parents, as well as his beloved son, Alan Loy Newman. Alan's legacy continues through his devoted wife of 41 years, Marilyn Newman of Forgan, OK, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge life offered. He is survived by his daughter, Timarra (Newman) Monroe and her spouse, Monte, of Piedmont, OK; his sons, Kurt Newman and wife Paulette of Stillwater, OK, and Benjamin Newman of Edmond, OK; and his stepson, Troy Shook and wife Karla of Sayer, OK. Alan's family extended beyond his children to include 10 adoring grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly. Alan's sister, Angie McClellan of Amarillo, TX, along with his nieces, Stephanie Urban of Van Alstyne, TX, and Susan Ridge of Hereford, TX, also mourn his passing. His larger family included countless friends, from coworkers who became lifelong companions to golf buddies who enriched his days with camaraderie and laughter. Alan graduated from Dalhart High School in 1966 voted All Around Athlete his Sr Yr and soon after, joined the United States Marine Corps. He served two terms, earning numerous accolades, including the Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, the Marksmanship Badge, and the RVN Cross of Gallantry with palm. Alan's service to his country was a source of pride throughout his life. After returning from Vietnam, Alan worked for the electric company in Dalhart, TX, before moving to Forgan, OK, where he dedicated 46 years to the Tri County Electric COOP, retiring with the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Golf was Alan's passion, and he spent countless happy hours at the Beaver County Municipal Golf Course, both as a player and an employee. The friendships he forged there were as treasured as the game itself. Alan was known for his ornery smile and big heart, always ready to tease and joke with those he loved. Alan's life will be celebrated at a service on August 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Dalhart Memorial Park Cemetery. His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Alan's memory to a cancer research organization or a charity of your choice. Though he is no longer with us, Alan's spirit, humor, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
