Alan Block
August 12, 1961 – March 3, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan Block, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Alan departed this world peacefully on March 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 64 years old.
Alan was born on August 12, 1961, in Windsor, Ontario, to Harry and Louise Block, who predeceased him. He grew up in a home filled with love and laughter, and from his parents, he inherited a deep sense of compassion and generosity that would go on to define his own life.
Alan's educational journey began at Essex High School, where he showed an early interest in business—a passion that he pursued throughout his life. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance from Windsor University and later completed an MBA at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. These academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful 30-year career with RBC, where he held various roles and traveled across Canada, retiring in 2017.
On December 18, 1987, Alan married the love of his life, Diane Stubbert, in London, Ontario. Together, they navigated 38 years of marriage, raising two wonderful sons, Adam and Nicholas. Their home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and adventure—a testament to the extraordinary bond they shared.
Alan had an insatiable thirst for adventure and a profound appreciation for the world’s beauty. His travels took him across the globe, and he often reflected on what a great life he had been privileged to lead. His family and friends remember him as a man who made everyone feel welcomed and valued. His kindness was as vast as his adventures, and his generosity touched countless lives.
Alan is survived by his devoted wife Diane; his loving sons Adam and Nicholas; his cherished siblings, sister Beverly Brandenburg, and brothers Len (Joy) and Glenn (Pam) Block. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Al. Though he had no grandchildren or great-grandchildren, his legacy of love and kindness will be carried forward by those who knew him.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Arthur Child Cancer Center for their compassionate care and to Dr. Wilkins and Dr. Kylea Potvin for their unwavering support during this difficult journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Alan's memory to Kids Cancer Care in Calgary, Alberta, or Youth Unlimited in Calgary—organizations close to Alan’s heart.
Alan Block was a beacon of light whose kindness and adventurous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
Rest in peace, dear Alan. You will be missed, but your legacy will endure in the stories we share and the love we continue to spread in your name.
