In Loving Memory

Alfred "Al" Klapka
February 15, 1948 — September 28, 2026
Al Klapka, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on February 15, 1948, in Dillonvale, Ohio, Al was the cherished son of Frank and Rose. He grew up surrounded by the pastoral beauty of Dillonvale, where he developed a lifelong affection for horses and the simple joys of nature.
Al's marriage to the late Brenda L. Klapka was a testament to enduring love. They shared 40 beautiful years together, building a life filled with laughter, family, and shared dreams. Together, they raised a son and a daughter. Al's greatest wish is for his grandson to carry forward his legacy of kindness and integrity.
Al's siblings, Carolyn "Kelly" Bramblett and her husband Lionel, Pauline Flick, and Frank Klapka, along with his nieces and nephews, will forever cherish his love and friendship.
Al’s incredible sense of humor and joy for life were infectious. Known for making up silly stories to bring smiles to those around him, he was a friend for life to many, including his dearest companions Fred Stingle, Dale Cooper, Rick Swan, and Fran Laurie.
A proud veteran, Al served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, demonstrating the same dedication and courage that would become hallmarks of his life. After his service, Al enjoyed a successful career spanning over three decades at Lubrizol in Wickliffe. His expertise and leadership eventually led him to the role of Director and General Manager at Sealube Marine Oil in Woodlands, Texas, until his full retirement.
A man of many passions, Al had a particular fondness for historical cars. He spent countless hours lovingly restoring them to their original glory, with his stunning 1929 Ford Model A being a testament to his skill and dedication. His love for animals was equally profound, as he tended to the deer, birds, and squirrels in his yard and cared for his friend's dog, Sophie, with the utmost devotion.
A voracious reader with an insatiable curiosity, Al possessed an incredible memory and a wealth of historical knowledge. He was a generous soul, often performing random acts of kindness for strangers, quietly changing lives with his selfless actions.
Al's life was a testament to the power of kindness, humor, and unwavering support for those he loved. Although a private funeral will be held to honor his memory, the impact of his life will be felt by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, his dear friend kindly suggests donations be made to Project HOPE of Cleveland, an organization close to Al’s heart.
Al's legacy will live on through the laughter, love, and compassion he shared with the world. He was a beacon of light and warmth, and he will be deeply and forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
