In loving memory of Ainis Kellijs, who passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 24, 1953, in Brooklyn, NY, Ainis touched many lives with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Ainis's journey began in the vibrant streets of Brooklyn, where he developed an early love for the dynamic pace of life. He went on to graduate from Rutgers University in 1999 with a degree in Business, and throughout his career, he acquired numerous certifications that spoke to his expertise and passion for the auto industry.
In the 1970s, Ainis started his professional journey as a taxi driver in New York City, where he enjoyed the diverse stories and experiences of his passengers. His love for hands-on work led him to pursue a career as a mechanic, which eventually blossomed into a teaching role at Lincoln Tech. In 1992, Ainis joined NJ Transit as a technical instructor, climbing the ranks to become a technical engineer, a position he held with pride until his retirement in 2024.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ainis was a man of many interests. He cherished the open road on his bike rides with friends, the tranquility of camping and fishing trips, and the joy of family vacations to Florida. Music of any kind brought him happiness, and he treasured every gathering with his beloved family and friends.
Ainis was a man of remarkable character, known for his caring nature and the steadfast friendships he cultivated. His ability to fix anything made him the go-to person for help, a role he embraced wholeheartedly. His love for animals was evident in the way he cared for his many pets over the years, earning him the affectionate title of a passionate pet dad.
Ainis leaves behind his devoted wife of 30 years, Elizabeth, and their two sons, Russell and Gregory. He is also survived by his nephew Alex and numerous loving family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
In honor of Ainis's love for animals, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Tabby's Place, a cat sanctuary located in Ringoes, NJ, which held a special place in his heart.
Ainis Kellijs's legacy of love, friendship, and unwavering kindness will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
