It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Aidan Conrado Villasan Fontanilla, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a man of unwavering dedication and strength. Aidan peacefully passed away at his home on March 22, 2025, at the age of 86.
Aidan was born on March 6, 1939, in St. Teresa Hospital, Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, to Albino Fontanilla and Victorina Villasan, both of whom have preceded him in death, along with his beloved siblings Amparo, Rosalina, Restituto, Puring, Priscilla, Benedicta, Eddie, Purification, Ligaya, and Percival. He now joins them in eternal rest.
Aidan's life was marked by a steadfast commitment to his family and a tireless work ethic. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Feati University in the Philippines, a foundation that led him to a fulfilling career as a civil engineer. His career took him from the bustling streets of Manila to the vast deserts of the Middle East, where he worked with Aramco in Saudi Arabia and in Iraq during the 1980s. His professional journey was a testament to his dedication, providing for his family with determination and grace.
Aidan met the love of his life, Priscila Canlas Chua, and they wed on February 5, 1966, in Manila, Philippines. Together, they built a beautiful life over 58 years of marriage—a union that was a beacon of love, laughter, and mutual respect. Their love was a guiding light for their five children: Lea & Hilbert, Aida & Edwin, Zurex & Jocelyn, Alpriz & Reginald, and Iman & Bless, who are forever grateful for the foundation of love and education he tirelessly provided.
Aidan's greatest joy was his family, especially his six grandchildren: Albert, Leigh, Angelica, Zeejay, Gian, and Algie. He took immense pride in their achievements and cherished each moment spent with them, sharing stories and lessons that will forever resonate in their hearts.
Aidan’s essence was defined by his unwavering strength and boundless love. His legacy is imprinted in every achievement and every cherished memory his family holds dear. His life was a testament to selfless dedication—a life lived for the betterment of those he loved.
A service to celebrate Aidan’s life will be held on March 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Queens Park Cemetery, located at 3219 4th Street North West, Calgary, Alberta T2M 3B4. The Fontanilla family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver and especially to Priscila, for the compassionate care and love they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family invites all who loved Aidan to join them in remembering a man who will be "Forever in our Hearts."
May his soul rest in peace, and his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
