‘Ahiomalata’i Tu’ipelahake “‘Ahio” Tuivailala, aged 84, peacefully departed this world on May 28, 2026, in the comforting embrace of his loved ones in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on November 8, 1941, in the vibrant city of Nuku’alofa, Tonga, ‘Ahio was a beacon of love and wisdom to all who were fortunate enough to know him. The beloved son of Naufahu and Sinitalekela Tuivailala, ‘Ahio was raised in a nurturing environment filled with love and traditional values. His siblings, Fahu Liaona Tuivailala, Kinikinitale Tuivailala, and Iemoane Mone Lisikia, remember him as a steadfast brother whose laughter and kindness were ever-present. ‘Ahio's life was a testament to devotion and love. In the summer of 1970, he married his beloved wife, ‘Asipakate Alikui Fetua-Tuivailala, in a beautiful ceremony in his hometown of Nuku’alofa. Together, they built a family that became the center of his world. As a father, he was a nurturing guide to his cherished children: Honofa Paul, Petifiha, Palu Sele, Tiamoti, and Iemoneagata Ngata Tuivailala. His legacy of love extends even further to his 18 adoring grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren, each of whom he celebrated with pride and joy. An alumnus of Liahona High School, ‘Ahio carried his education into all facets of his life, inspiring others with his wisdom and unwavering integrity. He embodied the principles of hard work, dedication, and respect, leaving an indelible mark on his community. ‘Ahio's life was characterized by his devotion to family, his faith, and his Tongan heritage. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, from tending to his garden to sharing stories of his beloved homeland. A man of deep faith, his spiritual journey was a guiding light for his family and friends. Though he is preceded in death by his parents, Naufahu and Sinitalekela Tuivailala, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. ‘Ahio's gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew him. The Tuivailala family invites you to celebrate ‘Ahio’s remarkable life. Services will be held in his honor, where friends and family will gather to share memories and pay tribute to a life well-lived.
