Addie Rose Cates, a loving mother, cherished grandmother, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on September 15, 1945, in Wilson, North Carolina, Addie was the beloved daughter of Percey and Ella Burress. She was a beacon of kindness and strength, whose warmth touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Addie's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her community. She was predeceased by her parents, her dear brother William "Billy Boy" Burress, her loving sisters Doris Jean Hill and Jamie Webb, and her precious great-granddaughter Autumn Faith Cates. Despite these profound losses, Addie remained a pillar of resilience and grace, finding joy in her growing family and in the relationships she nurtured throughout her life. She is survived by her beloved son, Roger Cates, and his wife, Nancy, as well as her devoted daughter, Dawn Worrell, and her husband, Greg. Addie's legacy lives on through her five grandchildren: Danyel Cates (Kris), Tabatha Cates, Kendall Cates (Maranda), Bryson Worrell (Hope), and Nick Worrell. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, five boys and five girls, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Addie's life will be celebrated with a service on July 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Stantonsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church, located at 309 Moyton Ave, Stantonsburg, NC. It is in this sacred space that Addie found spiritual solace and community, and it is where her family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she led. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Kitty Askins Hospice and 3HC of Goldsboro. Their loving care and support during Addie's final days were a source of comfort and peace, and they are deeply appreciated by all who loved her. In remembering Addie, we celebrate a life of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
