Abraham Brown Smith

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Abraham Brown Smith,AB a cherished son, partner, father, brother, and friend. Abraham passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 43. Born on September 13, 1982, in Chicago, IL, he was the beloved son of Robert Smith and Delores Brown. Abraham was a man of many talents and passions. Educated at South Shore High School, he pursued further studies at Rend Lake College. His career as a truck driver with companies like Swiftlink UNI UNI and SWIFT X demonstrated his dedication and hard-working nature. With a Class C Endorsement Driver’s License, he navigated the roads with skill and commitment. In his personal life, Abraham was a man of diverse interests. He found joy in exercising through UFC Fighter training classes and had a green thumb for growing hydroponics in greenhouses. A lover of basketball, he could often be found watching games on TV, enjoying the camaraderie and excitement of the sport. While Abraham was known for his serious demeanor in his earlier years, fondly nicknamed "Krazy Cuz" by some, he evolved into a man full of laughter. He was known for his ability to find humor in life's tedious moments, bringing joy to those around him. Abraham is survived by a loving family who will carry on his legacy: his devoted life partner, Lea Gates; his cherished daughter, Yani Brown; his stepdaughters, Aiyana and Ekhiah; his brothers, Randell (Anqual) and Robert (Tina); his nephew, Will; and his nieces, Danielle and Grace. He is also survived by his aunts, Pastor Lily Smith, Geraldine Matthews, and Denise Smith, and numerous cousins including Dr. Nicole Wade,Evette Smith Davis, Lashon Smith, Dominique, Toria Smith, Allan Jackson, Roy Christopher, Allen Duncan, James Bradley, and Anthony Suttles. And A host of family and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers, Anthony and Will; his grandparents, the Smiths and Browns; his Aunt Dana Smith; and his Uncle Moses Brown. Their memories remain forever in the hearts of those who loved them. A service to honor and celebrate Abraham's life will be held on July 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Event Center, located at 10459 S. King Dr., Chicago, IL. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and condolences during this difficult time. In the words of his daughter, Yani Brown, "My Daddy was my hero. The best in the world. He always made me feel so safe, and I will always be his girl. I know he had to go away up to the stars so bright. But I can feel his love with me every day and night. I miss your smile, I miss you, Daddy Dear. But when I hold my heart real tight, I know that you are near." The Brown and Smith family wishes to thank everyone for their time, love, and support.
