It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Abigail Marisa Scott on March 30, 2026. Abigail left this world gently in her sleep, surrounded by the love of her dear friends and family, in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on March 10, 1971, to Michael and Olivia Scott, Abigail was a beacon of creativity, kindness, and warmth, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Abigail was a proud graduate of duPont Manual High School and later pursued her passion for the arts at the University of Louisville, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her artistic journey led her to a fulfilling career as a graphic designer at Brown-Forman, where her creative style and keen attention to detail left a lasting impact. She retired in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of inspiring designs that enriched both her company and the Louisville community.
A devoted member of Southeast Christian Church for over three decades, Abigail spent much of her life contributing to the community she loved. Her involvement with the Louisville Art Association showcased her dedication to supporting local artists and fostering a vibrant arts culture in her beloved city.
Abigail’s life was a tapestry of simple joys and artistic pursuits. She found solace and inspiration in the natural beauty of Louisville, often sketching at Louisville Waterfront Park and wandering the trails of Cherokee Park. Her explorations of the Speed Art Museum and frequent visits to local art fairs allowed her to connect with fellow art enthusiasts. Ever supportive of small businesses, she was often found journaling or painting in local cafés, where she forged many friendships.
Those who knew Abigail remember her for her sweet, caring nature and her unwavering commitment to putting others first. Her creative mind, determination, and warm personality left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Abigail’s life was a testament to the beauty of kindness and the power of creativity.
Abigail is survived by her loving husband, James Blackburn, with whom she shared a serene lakeside wedding at Lake Barkley, choosing to become Abigail and James Scott. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, blessed with two children, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Abigail's legacy of love continues through her surviving family members: Tanya Presley, Landon Scott, Randall Scott Jr., Jacob Fisher, Edward Fisher, Brandy Scott, Gracie Presley, Coco Presley, Traven Fisher, Chloe Fisher, and Steve Collier. She was predeceased by her father, Michael Scott, and her cherished siblings, Randall Scott, Jacob Scott, and Beverly Fisher.
A celebration of Abigail’s life will be held on April 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40213. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Fund for the Arts, honoring Abigail’s lifelong commitment to the arts.
