ABE RUBEN MALONE
January 30, 1932 — December 31, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and profound admiration that we announce the passing of Abe Ruben Malone, who departed from this world on December 31, 2023, at the remarkable age of 91. Born on January 30, 1932, in Dunlap, Iowa, Abe's life was a tapestry of service, love, and dedication to his family and community. He left us peacefully at his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.
Abe was the beloved son of Afle and Nellie Jane Smith Malone. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Beulah Rosetta Conyers Malone, and his siblings, including his four brothers: Robert, John, William, and Joe Malone; his sister, Lucy Malone Davis; and his dear grandparents, Ruben and Catherine Renz Moana Apps. He has now joined them in eternal rest.
Abe's legacy is carried forward by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted sons, Dennis Malone and Rodger Malone, along with Rodger's wife, Connie, all of whom reside in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Abe was blessed with the joy of six grandchildren: Kara Malone Smith and her husband Andy, Christina Gifford, Stephanie Malone Mendoza and her husband Justin, and Stacy Malone Ekces and her husband Morris. His family further blossomed to include sixteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Abe and Beulah were united in marriage on April 18, in Morehead, Iowa, a partnership that laid the foundation for a family filled with love and resilience. Abe graduated from Dunlap High School on May 14, 1951, and soon after, answered the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Army. He served with honor as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War, stationed in El Paso, Texas.
After his service, Abe embarked on a fulfilling career. He worked at Mastercraft Furniture and later moved to a farm in Henderson, Iowa, where he embraced the life of a dairy farmer. Eventually, Abe and his sons returned to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he resumed his work at Mastercraft Furniture as a dock foreman, retiring in 1998 after 38 years of dedicated service. Not one to rest, he continued to share his talents, working as a cook at the Chalet Restaurant for an additional ten years.
To honor Abe's life, a service will be held on April 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the Mormon Cemetery in Macedonia, Iowa. The family invites all who knew and loved Abe to join in this celebration of his life. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available at dm3298023@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Research for Children, organizations close to Abe's heart.
The Malone family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the exceptional team at EveryStep Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Abe in his final days. Their kindness and support will forever be remembered.
Abe's life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we hold onto the cherished memories and the legacy of kindness and dedication he leaves behind. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
