November 12, 1961 — March 7, 2026

It is with deep sorrow, but also with profound gratitude for his life, that we announce the passing of Abdel Wahab Mershati on March 7th, 2026. Abdel Wahab, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and devoted physician, left this world at the age of 64, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 12, 1961, in the vibrant city of Benghazi, Libya, Abdel Wahab was the beloved son of Saida and the late Khalifa Mershati. He was nurtured in a family where love and respect were the cornerstones of his upbringing. Abdel Wahab carried these values into every aspect of his life, shaping him into the kind, gentle, and generous soul that touched the lives of so many. Abdel Wahab's journey in medicine began at the esteemed Al-Arab Medical School in Benghazi, where he graduated in 1987. His dedication to healing and caring for others led him to pursue further training in internal medicine in Libya, a path that would define his long and rewarding career. In 1995, he embraced a new chapter by joining the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) as a family physician. For over three decades, he served his community with unwavering commitment, providing compassionate care and fostering deep connections with his patients and colleagues alike. In 1991, Abdel Wahab married the love of his life, Souad Shatshat. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, marked by mutual respect and shared dreams. Together, they built a family grounded in love and support, raising their children Farah, Sarah, and Malik with the same values that Abdel Wahab cherished. He leaves behind his dear wife, Souad, his devoted mother, Saida, and his cherished children: Farah, Sarah and her husband, and Malik. His legacy also lives on through his beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life and whom he adored with all his heart. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Yasmina and AbdelRazak for their unwavering support during difficult times, and to the many friends and colleagues who enriched Abdel Wahab's life with their presence and support. Abdel Wahab was known for his quiet strength and steadfast dedication to providing for his family. He worked tirelessly to ensure their well-being, always putting their needs above his own. His kindness and gentle nature endeared him to all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. As we bid farewell to Abdel Wahab, we celebrate a life filled with love, service, and quiet dignity. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. His memory will forever remain a beacon of love and compassion in our lives. A private family service will be held to honor Abdel Wahab's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Abdel Wahab's memory, ensuring that his legacy of kindness and generosity continues to touch lives. May Abdel Wahab rest in eternal peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
