In Loving Memory

Aaron Marshall Hicks
September 24, 1971 — May 8, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Aaron Marshall Hicks, a cherished husband, father, son, and friend, who left this world on May 8, 2026, at the age of 54, following a massive heart attack. Aaron was born on September 24, 1971, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and his life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Aaron was the beloved son of Marshall Patrick and the late Cherryl A. Hicks, who preceded him in death, along with his grandfather, William L. Hicks Sr., and his uncles, Thomas A. Hicks and William L. Hicks Jr. Aaron's legacy is carried forward by his devoted wife, Shandria M. Hicks, with whom he celebrated two years of marriage, having tied the knot on October 24, 2024. Their union was one of love and partnership, filled with shared dreams and mutual support.
Aaron was a proud and loving father to his children: son Andrew S. Johnson and his wife Alexis, of Terry, Mississippi; daughter Erin M. Hicks of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and son Austin M. Hicks of Rapid City, South Dakota. He was also a caring stepfather to Jada R. Fields of Jackson, Mississippi, and Justin T. Johnson of Houston, Texas. Though he leaves no grandchildren, he nurtured and cherished each moment with his children and stepchildren, imparting values of integrity, perseverance, and kindness.
Aaron’s educational journey began at Pike High School, where he graduated before pursuing his passion for craftsmanship at Delta Technical College. There, he obtained a degree in welding, a skill he honed with dedication and precision throughout his career. Aaron found fulfillment in his work at World Communion Cups in Brownsburg, Indiana, where he was known for his exemplary work ethic and camaraderie with colleagues.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Aaron found spiritual nourishment and community at The Blended Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he attended regularly. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him strength and guiding his actions with compassion and humility.
Aaron is survived by his father, Marshall Patrick; his dear grandmother, Nadine Maxey of Danville, Illinois; his uncle Robert A. Hicks and wife Debra of Seattle, Washington; and a host of cousins who will remember him fondly. Aaron's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication to those he held dear, and his absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Though Aaron's time with us was far too short, the impact he made on the lives of those around him is immeasurable. May he be remembered for his generous spirit, his warm smile, and his unwavering love for his family. As we say goodbye to Aaron, let us honor his memory by embracing life with the same kindness and determination that he embodied every day.
A celebration of Aaron’s life will be held at a date to be announced, where family and friends will gather to remember the joy he brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Aaron’s name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and his desire to make the world a better place.
