A. James Sample, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully departed this world at home on May 30, 2026. Born on June 14, 1942, in Burbank, California, James was a beacon of strength, kindness, and dedication throughout his 83 years. James was the beloved son of the late Arthur and Dorothy Sample, from whom he inherited a deep sense of integrity and service. A proud graduate of Birmingham High School in Encino, California, class of 1960, James went on to serve his country with honor as a Lieutenant in the United States Army for four years. His commitment to public service continued with a distinguished 35-year career in the Los Angeles Police Department, where he served as a Sergeant II in the Air Support Division, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. On April 5, 1965, James married the love of his life, Colleen, in a union that spanned over six decades. Together, they built a loving family and shared countless memories. James is survived by his devoted wife, Colleen, and their two sons, James and David, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom carry forward his values of love, strength, and compassion. James was a man who lived his life with unwavering dedication to his family and community. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms. A memorial service to honor James's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Spillsbury Mortuary, located at 25 2000 W, Hurricane, UT 84737. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by James are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man who lived a life of purpose and integrity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in James's memory to a charity of your choice, ensuring that his spirit of generosity continues to make a difference in the world. James will be forever missed but never forgotten, as he lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
